In this paper we explore the concept of health as a central domain in
modern societies. By describing the health modern paradigm, we highlight
several aspects that are related to the modern concept of health.
A model describing the dynamics of several domains and aspects of
health is presented: the Health Holistic Model. Practical applications
of the health holistic model to health promotion and prevention are
described. Particular attention is given to specific intervention contexts
that may have a very significant role in the modification and evolution
of processes related to health meanings and behaviours in general
population.
