Abstract:

The aim of this article is to contribute data on the relation that
can exist between certain vital events in alcoholic women and their
alcohol dependency. For it, a series of variables has been selected,
like the antecedents of sexual abuse, physical maltreatment, alcoholic
ancestors, or the presence of alcoholic partner. Three samples of
alcoholic women, non-alcoholic women have been resisted and alcoholic
men to find differences. In addition, the psychological, familiar and
social consequences have been examined in both groups of women
and alcoholic men to identify divergences. Data were collected from
a semistructured interview. As control measurement, one resorted to
questionnaire AUDIT, to guarantee the inclusion of the participants in
the suitable group. Data were put under a contrast analysis. The results
showed that certain vital events are more frequent between the alcoholic
women, and who the consequences of their alcohol dependency, in some
cases were different from the men.
