Abstract:

This paper presents a consumer profile of steroids in gyms, taking into account the reasons of practice and the relationship with the physical self. They used two instruments: Physical Self-Concept Scale (Moreno and Cervelló, 2005) and ad-hoc questionnaire on the basis of practice, hours of training and ergogenic substance. 315 practitioners were evaluated weights (M = 26.95 years, SD = 7.33) and the results show that consumers do not start the practice sport to improve physical health and continue to practice to improve their muscle. In addition, the consumers training significantly more hours than non-consumers. However, there is no relationship between the measure of physical self-concept and consumption of EEAS. The levels of prevalence of EEAS in this sample are at 9.2%.
